ANDREA SMITH

Raised in Kamloops Shuswap this BC native played piano, guitar and flute as a kid. Choirs, musicals, stage performances and cover bands later, the songwriting began. With influences like Bonnie Raitt, Chrissie Hynde, and Sheryl Crow, Andrea has produced three albums of original material. Her songwriting is a blend of blues, jazz, country and rock.

She has received eight Vancouver Island Music Award nominations. Taking home 2007 Female Songwriter of the Year. “Sweet Embrace” also won Producer and Engineer of the Year (Pat Coleman, Rick Salt) 2014 album “Transition” received two nominations and her video “Moonlight Shine” was nominated for Video of the Year. 2005 she took home first place in the songwriting category at the Shuswap International Writers Festival. Andrea studied songwriting at the B.C. Festival of the Arts in 2001. Got a music degree in Jazz studies in 2011. She toured with her own band, trios and duos, covering Vancouver Island, central BC, the Yukon as well as England, France and Australia.

Having recently moved to SW Sask, Andrea is excited to gain new audiences and meet new musical friends. She is working towards pre-production for her next album.
